NCCP L2T (Dryland) Workshop

The NCCP L2T (Dryland) Workshop is the third step in the NCCP progression.  Coaches are taught about developmental age, physical literacy, team building, athletic components (aerobic fitness, speed, etc.), nutrition, how to design their own sport program, adventure-based activities (year-round), roller-skiing and planning a practice.

Prerequisites:  Successful completion if the Community Coaching Workshop and a minimum age of 16 years on the first day of the L2T (Dryland) workshop.

Facilitator: Doris Hausleitner

The workshop fee is $100.00.  The workshop fee for non-CCC/CCBC members is $200.00.

Important info for participants

Please show up dressed to be outside!
You will be asked to do a “working lunch” so please bring a bagged lunch with you. You will need to have the course documents uploaded to an ipad or laptop. We have gone paperless!
You will also need:
1) running shoes
2) running clothes
3) skate roller skis, roller ski boots, poles (optional) with roller ski tips, gloves, high vis vest or other clothing, helmet (roller skiing will likely occur on the second day)
4) poles for ski striding
5) yoga mat is nice for strength and stretching
6) water bottle
7) a change of clothes both days

FALL WORK BEE: All Hands On Deck

 Join us to get the Club ready for another great winter!  

  • When: Saturday October 19
  • Where: meet at Apex Warming Hut
  • Time: 9:00 am

Plenty of projects to complete before the snow flies… if you have tools or a pickup truck that you can bring, please let us know.

A hot lunch will be served, so please RSVP in order to have ample food available.

  • Clearwater A Frame- firewood to be delivered, brushing foliage away from the sides of the A Frame, clean out wood stove, the roof of the outhouse swept off. 
  • Firewood- splitter will be on hand to split and store firewood 
  • Cleaning interior/exterior windows of Apex warming hut, wipe down tables etc.
  • Hauling firewood to Euphrates shelter 

Most materials needed for these projects will be on site.

Please bring gloves and a water bottle, as well as any of the following tools:

  • Pick up truck(s)
  • Chainsaws
  • Wheel barrow(s)
  • Ladder(s)
  • Cordless drill(s)
  • Skil saw(s)
  • Hammer(s)
  • Measuring tape(s)

Kids’ Pumpkin Hunt

Kids' Pumpkin Hunt

What: Our Track Attack and Junior Racers are organizing a Pumpkin Hunt to raise funds for their program. Hot dogs, hot chocolate and marshmallows around the fire will be included.

 

Where: meet at Apex Day Lodge

When: 10:00 am start

Who: all kids 12 years old and under are welcome!

Cost: $10 per pumpkin hunter (includes pumpkin and food).  $5 for just want food and hot chocolate.

Don’t Forget: bring a mug for hot chocolate, a marker for pumpkin drawing, and your own water bottle!

About the event:
The team has 125 pumpkins hidden in the Enchanted Forest. Children 12 years and under are invited to hunt for a pumpkin with our ski team who will guide them into the forest.

There will be some fun games and pumpkin drawing on the pumpkins for carving at home, and fun times around the fire eating hot dogs and marshmallows.

Gear Drop Off: 9 – 10 am  (cross country gear and clothing only)

AGM: 10-11am     Anyone attending the AGM will be admitted early to the Ski Swap and also eligible for some excellent door prizes!!

SKI SWAP: 11am – 12:30pm

Payout and Pick-up unsold gear: 12:45-1:30 pm

Fee: 15% of sold merchandise goes to the club
$5.00 charge for unsold items

  • Ski Waxing and Bake Sale Fundraiser for Ski Team: Bring your skis to get them waxed for only $10, and buy some delicious goodies to support the Nelson Nordic Ski Team!
