The final day of racing in the 2020 Teck Kootenay Cup takes place on the morning of Sunday, February 16. The Busk, Euphrates and Clearwater ski trails, as well as all snowshoe trails, will be closed for the races until at least 1 p.m. on Sunday.

If you’re not involved with the race as an athlete, coach or volunteer, please ski and park on the Apex side on Sunday morning. Awards and lunch for the racers and volunteers will be held at the Apex hut but not until around noon or later on Sunday.

We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks to all who participated in our annual, family friendly Valentine’s Ski event last night at Nelson Nordic – we had a great tiki torch-lit ski, yummy food, a singalong with Jamie Bastedo, and we all got to make a wish while sending off beautiful candle lanterns on a perfect calm night. Together, we raised over $113 in cash, plus non-perishable food donations, for the Nelson Community Food Centre!

A huge thank you to the volunteers who organized such a fun community event, and special thanks to Telus for their sponsorship. Thanks for helping us support our community! Happy Valentine’s Day! 💘

Nelson Nordic Ski Club is proud to be hosting the series finale in the Teck Kootenay Cup on Saturday and Sunday, February 15 and 16, 2020! We hope you will join us at Apex and Busk for the fastest fun to be had on two skinny skis!

Not racing? Come and join the fun as a volunteer! Please sign up here.

On Saturday, January 25, the community came out in large numbers to support our annual Tour de Soup. This year’s event was a great success, with more than 120 skiers raising donations of just over $490 to be split between our Nelson Nordic Ski Club Junior Racing Team and the Nelson Community Food Centre! Thank you to all who participated and donated!

Conditions were excellent on the trails and delicious gourmet soup was enjoyed in each of our three warming cabins: Apex, Euphrates and Clearwater.

Nelson Nordic Ski Club owes a debt of gratitude to the volunteers who organized such a fun community fundraiser: Jennifer, Brooke, Margo, Frances, Lois, Bob, Peter, Lisa and Ron L, Ron B and Katie! Thank you for your generous dedication of time and energy to make it happen!

We also greatly appreciate the donations of piping hot soup from the following local eateries: Yum SonMain Street DinerKootenay Co-opFinley’s Bar & Grill and the Selkirk College Culinary Program. Thank you for supporting our community!
