Nelson Nordic Ski Club needs your help to purchase a new grooming machine!
Our fundraising campaign continues to gather steam. Thanks to a combination of grants and generous donations from our members, we have now raised over $150,000!
We are very grateful for your support! As we’ve noted before, the cost of a new machine is in the range of $327,000. At the moment, we are in the process of completing an application to BC Capital Gaming for matching funds and we have commitments from other granting agencies that will be honoured if we are successful in that application.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have also been informed that gaming funds for capital projects are not assured and may be somewhat more limited than in recent years. In the meantime, we continue to hold the funds raised to date in a restricted account. These funds will be used only toward the purchase of a new grooming machine.
In order to put the Club in the best position possible to purchase a new grooming machine sooner rather than later, we continue to seek donations from our supporters: If you have not yet made a donation and would like to do so, there are two options:
- If you are interested in receiving a tax receipt for your donation, please visit Nordiq Canada’s Donation Page (then select “Click Here to Support a Club” and then “Nelson Nordic”).
- If you don’t need a tax receipt and would prefer to donate directly to the Club, please email General Manager Jaime Frederick (jaime AT nelsonnordicski DOT ca)
As you know, Nelson Nordic Ski Club is a non-profit community resource for members and non-members alike – we offer courses for over 900 schoolchildren annually through our popular School Outreach Program plus other youth and adult programs. We are also a draw for winter tourists, offering 26km of beautiful groomed track – and this helps support many other businesses in Nelson and area.
