TRAILS & GROOMING UPDATE

Friday, March 5, 2021

Even with our new grooming machine, the amazing Lois, grooming conditions have been challenging this week, with daytime highs at the club reaching +7C or higher, and then freezing overnight. And no fresh snow to work with.

Mark, Jason and Graham, our operators this week, have been working hard to keep the trails groomed for both classic and skate skiing, despite the freeze/thaw cycle. Thanks, team!

Spring skiing means early mornings are excellent for skate skiing, with fast conditions and enough light by 6 am to see clearly. The trails do soften up later in the day, but even at noon, classic tracks are still relatively fast in the trees on Busk. Certainly softer out in the sun, but definitely still decent.

As of 7:15 am, temperature is -4C, with another warm day expected. Skies are partly cloudy and there are strong wind gusts in the forecast for this afternoon. There is also some precipitation in the forecast. Do your snow dance, everybody!
