Trail and Grooming Update

January 14, 2023

Good Morning intrepid skiers… the sun is rising on Apex!

It is 7:30 am and things are a bit warmer out at the club with temperatures at -17 . Sunny forecast today wih highs of -13. Remember our Jackrabbits program is running today on the Apex side.

We have groomed Apex, all the stadium trails, and Nightcreek has been opened now for skiing! Cottonwood is in excellent condition. We currently are grooming Busk/Euphrates and will take a run up Clearwater to check conditions. With these cold and dry conditions the trails are in excellent shape and are ideal for Kootenay Cup Training:)

Kootenay Cup this year is on February 17 and 18th.

  • Saturday Feb 17, 2024 individual sprint at Apex;  free technique
  • Sunday, Feb 18, 2024 individual intervals start at Busk  classic technique

If you are interested in volunteering for this fun and active event please contact us at info@nelsonnordicski.ca.

Our adult programming will be starting up the week of January 22, stay tuned for details on how to tune up your fitness, fun and technique, details will be posted on our website soon!

If you plan to ski this morning, come prepared for extreme cold. Light weight, tight fitting ski boots can cause frostbite in these temperatures. Bring a backpack with extra clothes and a windbreaker. And wear mitts, instead of gloves. And cover your face with a necker or buff.
