Very difficult grooming conditions over the last couple of nights, with freezing temperatures on the heels of the wind and rain earlier in the week. Mark from our grooming team has been working very hard, taking multiple passes with the snowcat to pull in fresh snow from the sides of the trails, which resulted in good to excellent conditions on Busk Euphrates yesterday. Thanks, Mark!
He did the same again on Apex and Cottonwood Rail Grade last night, so trails on that side will be much improved over yesterday. Due to the time required to do this work, we have not refreshed the grooming or tracksetting on Clearwater today.
However, as of 7:40 am, we are currently grooming Busk Euphrates. We may have to close Busk temporarily this morning in order for the machine to make multiple passes. Please respect any trail closure signs you may see out on the network and use caution when skiing near the grooming machine.
Trails were running very fast and hard yesterday, leading to some treacherous descents down Clearwater for Classic skiers. As well, there is considerable debris on the Classic track around the 2km mark on Clearwater main trail. It gets much better further up.
We are looking forward to a little fresh snow on Saturday night and Sunday, but rest assured that until then we are doing our best in tough conditions to keep the trails in good shape.
