TRAILS & GROOMING UPDATE

February 8, 2021

Good morning skiers!

Current conditions are crisp, at -11 Celsius, with predicted day time highs of -4. No new snow has fallen in the last 12 hours. There are no clouds to be seen in the forecast, so it promises to be another glorious day at Apex.

Grooming has been completed on the Apex network of trails. The Busk side is still to be completed.

Morning Trivia! The word for ski is very different throughout the Scandinavian countries. Denmark both spells and pronounces “ski” the same as in English. Norway spells ski like English but it is pronounced almost exactly like the English word “she”. Sweden spells it “Aka Skidor”, and even the word ski in the word is pronounced very different than in English. Finnish is one of the few ancient languages in Europe that is not related to the Indo European groups (like the Latin and Germanic languages) and is spelt “Hiihtaa” and is pronounced he-ta.
