On this day in 1965, Cosmonaut Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov, of the Soviet Union, was the first man to walk in space. It didn’t go off without problems. His suit expanded to the point he couldn’t get back in through the hatch. He had to depressurize his suit to the point he may not have had enough oxygen to breath. He managed to reenter the capsule, but upon reentry his craft went into a spin after ejecting the inflatable airlock, sending his craft off course. The spacecraft suffered further malfunctions preventing them from regaining their proper course. , They landed in a dense forest in the middle of a blizzard, and had to survive for a couple days before being rescued.

If you think your having a bad day, think of Alexei Leonov, and go for a ski!
