Good morning Skiers,

Grooming is well underway this morning with Clearwater and Busk/Euphrates complete, including all the loops and the Connector. Over on the Apex side Night Creek, the rail grade and about half of the Night Loop are done. Cottonwood is being groomed at this moment and is about 3/4 complete. Grooming should be finished by 7:30am.

If you are like me and love pirates, then today is a special day in pirate history. It was on this day in 1671 that Captain Henry Morgan lead his famous attack on Panama city. Captain Morgan is one of the most infamous pirates, giving his name to a brand of Rum and today selling many tours in various Caribbean locals. Unlike other pirates from this period, such as Edward Teach, Benjamin Hornigold and Calico Jack Rackam, Captain Morgan was rarely a true pirate, as much of the time he carried a letter of Mark from the British Crown, and operated only against the Spanish. Neither did he share the grim fate of many of the pirates that came later. King Charles II did order him arrested, but he was pardoned and later knighted. He died peacefully on his own plantation in Jamaica. He did not rest at peace though only 4 years after his burial an earth quake struck Port Royal sending 1/3 of the town into the sea along with Captain Morgan’s grave. Davy Jones locker was to have his soul after all!
