2024 NNSC TECK KOOTENAY CUP – RACE Canceled

“Hello skiers and Nordic supporters,

Despite the hard working efforts of the NNSC 2024 Kootenay Cup Race committee it seems that El Nino has taken the win.

Current Kootenay cup race course conditions at the Club have deteriorated over the past week. With no significant snowfall and warm temperatures predicted over the coming days it is unlikely that the snow conditions will hold up to host the event. We explored different course options and ways to host, however, in the end we were unable to set alternate routes for the race courses.

It is for these reasons that we regretfully are cancelling the 2024 NNSC Kootenay Cup Races scheduled for February 17/18, 2024.

This season has sent many weather challenges and we are stoked that you have not been swayed from your training. You gritted your teeth and honed your racing skills all the while dreaming of the day when you could don your race attire in pursuit of those Chocofellar golds! We hope to see you at the races next year!

While the Kootenay cup is on hold until next year we do have other events planned that do not have the same course criteria as the Kootenay Cup.

Many of our trails are good to go for our other events and general fun!

This weekend come and ski the trails to our warming huts and enjoy the wonderful soup samples from our many amazing culinary sponsors at our popular Tour de Soup, February 10, 12 – 2:00 pm. Soup donations by:

Main street Diner, Sprout Eatery Nelson, The Block at Railtown, Kootenay Co-op, Finley’s Irish Bar, The Hume Hotel-Spa, Selkirk College Culinary Program and Outer Clove Restaurant.
